It's bad enough that my melon plants weren't put out until 15 days ago, now the storm that passed through earlier have done all 4 plants in! 2 were ripped completely out of the ground! So now I will start my last 291 Kent and my next to last 230 Kent and just have 2 plants. I want to cross those two, at least maybe I'll have some seeds this year...

sorry to hear that. We had a hail storm on sunday. Lucky i had the plants covered. Lost 1 leaf that was sticking out. Got to protect them al long as you can. maybe the weather will settle down soon. Its been a rough spring. Do you need more seeds ? Or is it too late.

We had crazy storms here, had to be a tornado close to here. It took me an hour to go to the store after the storms, and the store is 1 mile away! We had to cut trees out of our way that were laying on the road. Hay field is laying flat. I hear ya Chris, should of had them covered, but a little low on funds right now. I have 2 seeds started for round two but I'd love to have a few more 291 seeds if you have any left, I started my last one last night...

Dewight, how far are you from Knoxville? If you want to make the drive I can let you have a few plants. They are getting a little big to transplant but shouldn't be too much of a problem if you are any good at transplanting. I have a nice 99 Gunter in a pot and a nice one in a larger pot from a James White seed. I have a 267 Pleasant that will be easy to move if you want it. And you could have my youngest plant which is a 151 Leonard. I think they said they had voles or something last year which caused the 151 plant an untimely demise or the melon would have gotten much larger. This one may be a sleeper.I also have a nice little 211 Dawson we may dig up for you if you want it. Anyway I have plants if you want to drive for them. Call me if you like: 865-235-7111.

It's getting late so think about saving those 291 seeds until next year.

Dewight, I am going to take pictures of the plants I think you might like that I am willing to donate to help you out.I will then post these picts on my growers diary for you to take a look at. This should help you decide before you make a long drive. These plants are all starting to get really healthy I think. The White plant is from a is a 149.5 melon. I also have a 259.2 Kent,a 157 Bright X open and a 209 Thornton I am willing to part with. You may pick and choose whichever plants you want if you decide to make the drive..

Thanks a million for the offer Dennis, I am really too busy with baseball, mowing, etc. to make it down there. Not to mention low on funds at the moment. But I do appreciate the offer. We'll try to get the cross I wanted to do (291 X 230) and concentrate on the field pumpkins and tomatoes. Thanks again...

Dewight, I have several back up plants here. You are more than welcome to pick them up. Email me if you're interested. I don't think we're probably but about an hour or two from each other?
