No worries on squash vine borers, they don't get in melon plants. One of the many reasons I don't grow pumpkins.

I think i had a problem with svb in my plants & the squash bugs will kill them also. They got 4 of my plants in 09.

That grub gets pretty big, you would most likely see it on a Melon if you are watching for them,I am nailed by dozens every year, but havent seen them touch melons,I will treat soil for larve & grubs this year. But my neighbors have gardens within 1/4 mile I cant treat theres!Thats why I built my greenhouse to be svb & aphid free on 2 plants.Good luck!!

Theres no squash in melons, so they don't like them. I guess if they had nonething else, they might lay on a melon.

Chris you may want to tell the svbs & the squash bugs that i dont think they know. I spray for svbs & squash bugs just in case. good luck to everybody!!!

HHG that is kind of funny. The melon I grew on it last year was about 180 when the plant went down. Stump rot got it too. Hopefully mixed in enough sand in the new patch to tone down the organic matter some and improve drainage for this year.

Now squash bugs will eat melons, I was refering to SVB's only. Besides, i have squash around for them to eat in my regular garden.
