If I apply gypsum in the fall to raise calcium, will it benefit the melons in the spring or will it leach out over the winter, or should I apply in the spring prior to planting?

By the grace of God I was born in the south, not up there, so I don't worry to much about the 2 feet of snow. So should gyspum be applied in the Fall or the Spring?

beeman, I think sheetrock has gypsun in it, but also has some nasty stuff in it you wouldn't want in the garden. I need to raise my calcium a little but not my PH, so that is why I want to add some.

If it were me and I could put it in now, I would. Then see where you are at in the Spring...
