my first note ,as a not to do, would be ,put plants out without plastic around each plant and also if u plant early spring ,dont bury the stem, just the roots only ,this save`s you from the corn magits,temps were not good for the first part of may ,and my plants are behind ,for my own wieghoff but they are doing alot better sence the worm temps ,my bestplantof now is ,in this order-259 kent -150 hampp- 136- hammp -228 pleasant 230 edwards -197 lenoerd-the rest are all fare game - but still pushing along-good luck to all ,I will post pics soon in my diarie

The beginning to your season sounds alot like mine. Cool weather, rain, more rain! I finally got my plants in the ground this past Monday. Further behind than I'd like to be but it is what it is. I have had black plastic down for about a month to warm the soil and it really helped the plants take off once I got them in the ground. I have five plants out, so far the order of performance is as follows: 255 Mitchell - 255 Mitchell - 267 Edwards - 217 Pleasant - 139 Leonard. The 139 is a week behind the others. I also have two back-ups going in pots still. They are 267 and 217. Good Luck to all you Melon Heads...
