Got several started to pick from, then will give away the rest. Can't have weighoffs if we don't have people growing world class stuff :)

I haven't posted my list yet since I have a dozen plants and only 5 will go in the garden. We had a solid frost the night before last, so I am iffy about putting the plants in yet. It will be soon, and then I have to make my decisions.

I had some problems with germination so this is my revised lineup.
243 Kent 207 Masterson 209 Kent 113 Kent 176 Masterson 131 Schnicker
I think someone or even several growers are going to break that 268.8 barrier this year. Personally, I may not have anything because I am probably pushing too hard. But then if you don't push it you will probably end up with mediocrity.Good luck to everyone.

MY attempt, is to give everyone of these plants the same amount of space, and take very good notes, see witch ones are the most aggressive, etc etc,all plants will get a fair shot, will try to get each one to a weigh off, other then breaking the state record my attempt, is to get five over 200,I know it`s a long shot but thats what i`m going for. and get this all the seeds I started guess witch ones came up first?my 150s could`nt beleave it.

I have seven plants that will go in the ground soon. I have two plants each of the 255 Mitchell - 217 Pleasant and 267 Edwards. I also have one 239 Leonard. The best five at planting time will get put in each of my spots and the other two will be planted alongside the two smallest of the top five to get a second chance at making the cut. I will go down to five plants once they take off running...

209 KENT 09 239 Leonard 08 259 KENT 09 255 Mitchell 07 157 BRIGHT or 148 BOWERS 113 KENT 09 243 KENT 09 very hard choice this year. Also i really want the 157 to get the spot, but its the most runty of the group. I hope the genetics take over & it does well. At the 2nd leaf stage the 113 kent's are in the lead. We will see in a couple of weeks !

Wow, I added those in my head & I think it's about 95 plants. It must be a full time job. I'm sure you have a lot of good help though Lloyd.Sounds like you are working hard to try to keep that world record. Well, I wish everyone lots of good luck.By the way, if you are ever interested in any seeds from me or probably from anyone else on this forum just let us know and I am sure we'll be happy to share with you.

Hi TD, Thanks for the seed offer. 95 plants should not be difficult to take care of if the weather cooperates. Everyone needs something to keep them busy. My current excitement is over getting the 268.8 seeds to germinate at a high rate. That has not happened before.

I am doing this from memory so I will get some of this wrong, but I am only growing 5 plants this year. Not 95 plants like Lloyd. Looks like Kent is the big addition to my genetics this year.
White #2 09 (not weighed, WHITE x 43" melon) 209 KENT 09 243 KENT 09 259 KENT 09 163? Victor James (my 225 WHITE x a Bright melon)
I will repost tomorrow when I have information sheet in front of me.
