I tried doing a search a few pages back and came up with nothing. I know that I will need to apply a fungicide but what about a pesticide ? Do watermelons and lopes get attacked by anything ? If so , what does everyone use and how often ? Lee

Here cucumber beetles are a huge problem on lopes but not to bad on watermelons. Many of the same pests on AG's can be a problem on both. I'd be prepared to target most of them. See this post http://www.bigpumpkins.com/msgboard/ViewThread.asp?b=14&p=336967

i had cucumber beetles damage a few young watermelon plants early last year so beware. I see them when the melon plants are big & i spray accordingly. I worry more about diseases being transported by them.

Don't now how bad cucumber bugs are on watermelons. I really never had a problem with them. Even when we grew them commercially, i don't remember a problem. We always worried more about spraying the fungicides then anything. Just use a good spray program for both and youo should be good.

All it takes is one & there goes your prize plant when its young. ( lost 2 plants last year) If you don't have a backup, your 2 weeks behind. Thats said, don't use too much & burn the plant either.
Maybe up north they are not a problem early?
