If you stake your plants you can control the growth direction and decrease the amount of damage you incur due to wind. It also greatly encourages secondary rooting. I will use about 150 stakes in my patch to hold down 8 plants.

Carolina Cross plants need a lot of stakeing if you grow on plastic. They have no way to anchor naturally with this method and a good wind will really mess them up.
