Congrats Dave, to be able to grow these things up in MN really takes skill.

Thanks Dave for the numbers. Sorry on the setbacks this year for the melons. Using only the bathroom scale, I honestly didn't even have one over 130 this year. But the 130 was a hit at the SCSU swimming and diving event in St. Cloud over the weekend.

I can say that it really doesn't take that much skill to grow one here in Minnesota, because after all, even I can do that. :-)
It does take the recognition that mother nature can easily take it all away from you. It might be a perfect growing year, and then 17 inches of rain in one day, or as this year proved, it might be cool weather all summer with heat finally in September. I just want a nice normal (what is that?) growing year.
Caleb will have to worry about me next year. I should be back in full force.

Great job on your win Dave. To have the best in a bad year is still saying a lot. Congratulations.

I see Dave also had a 1355 pound pumpkin at Nekoosa which was good for 5th place. You guys really know how to grow 'em big up there. Congratulations once again Dave!
