Reading the post about adding Length and girth got me to thinking, so I plotted some numbers from 9 melons that I could think of. Interestingly the relationship between L+G and weight is basically linear. I wanted to see if I took a large amount of melon actuals and plotted them if I got the same trend. If so it would be very easy to derive a simple equation to figure weight by adding length and girth. Is your data in an Excel file?

Hey Holloway, It got me to thinking too. Actually it got me a little confused. Anything ya'll can find would be interesting to compare, and would love to see if you found a trend.

Yes, the data is in excel. I make it available to anyone that asks, I just ask that we don't end up with multiple master copies of the data. Just keep sending me the updates and I will publish as wanted.

Jake - I just sent you the spreadsheet. Sorry it took so long, but I am generally out in my garden on weekends and don't spend a lot of time connected.
