I have five REEB and James in the ground. Have not seen much growth yet. They were a little root bound in the pots. Will they need to stay in cloches the whole season. I am in the Seattle area (1st attempt at GWM's)What kind of plant size should I expect. I have allowed for two in a 25 x 25 area. The others get the whole area 25 x 25. My pumpkin and Squash have all taken off. WM's are a couple of weeks behind in planting.

Carolina Cross has the potential to run as much as 50 feet in any direction. Two in a 25 x 25 area is a bit over 300 sq. ft. per plant. This is a bit crowded for growing a exhibition size melon. The 3 that have 25 x 25 alone should do very well. If you are looking for the biggest melon possible you should pull the weakest plant of the two that are together. If you just want some nice melons then they should do OK there.
