I was wondering... does the 744 Welty* 2000 (720.5Weltyx794LeGras*),,,, and the 541 Welty* 2000 (218Andrews*x720.5Welty)....throw pure green squash, pumpkins, grey squash, squmpkins, some of each, or what? Oh and have they produced any big fruits?
Thanks Justin

To start off the 744 has thrown 1 fruit I know of , a 625.5 lb greenie. The 720.5 was orange but threw green, but that is no shock since it came from a 900.5 lyons ( which throws as much green as orange) So my response on the 744 would be a toss up ( my guess would be 65% chance of throwing green) remember that is a guess! As for the 541, the female "218" green, the male 720.5 was orange but is the same plant that threw the green 744. Between the 2 if I had to pick one with the best chance of throwing a green one I would go with the 541. Glen, please jump in here & help me. I know you got a idea on this one.............Paul

Hey justin one more thing, I'm starting to believe more & more there are no sure things when it comes to green. Next year I'm planting a 900.5 & 616, both of which goes both ways & with my luck both will go orange ( I want green) I've been thinking about staying home one night & watching late night TV & calling Miss Cleo to see what she sees in my future..........Paul

Ok Paul...I'll add to the topic. The 218Andrews* was a side vine fruit on the same plant as my 565*.It was left on as a shock absorber fruit and is self pollinated.the 218* grew Nic's 541* in an open ,untended field. The 720 was a creamy color fruit from the 900Lyons* pollinated by a 539Stelpflug*squash. The 720* grew the 744* which was a beautiful and large squash.....and the 744* was again pollinated by a squash, this time the 794Legras*. So, with both of these seeds (541*and 744*) you are looking at 3rd or fourth generation squashes...pollinated by squashes., so the odds of squash are good,I would even say for all practical purposes...its a lock for squash. (and not that mottled stuff either....,but good green squash). And, the 744 grew squash for nic again this year.
