What would be the best way to find out the current State record for a pumpkin in Arkansas or another state? We are new to growing AG but would like to know what the records are. Thanks Brian and 4 kids

Thanks for the information....I wonder why it does not have any information for AR? I have e-mailed them and asked them.

Many state records appear here:

Though Arkansas has no fruit reported there or at AGGC. Grow just about anything next year & those kids own a state record!

The States don't keep official records. We the growers do. We are the ones who know and care about them anyway.

Grow a pumpkin, get it weighed on a certified scale, hopefully at some kind a weigh-off (but not required), with a couple of people as witnesses (in case someone challenges your results). Post the results here on BP. Send an email to Duncan (backyard garderner.com guy, [email protected] ) and Jim (the IPGA 10 ten page guy, http://www.ipga.ws/TTAPumpkins.htm, [email protected] ) telling them that you are new Arkansas state record holder.

There is a weigh-off near Springfield Missouri. This may be the closest gpc site for Arkansas growers.

The site hasn't been updated yet. The heaviest pumpkin at the weigh-off in 2004 was 770. There was also a 764. These were both grown in Missouri, I don't know if there were any pumpkins there from Arkansas.
