Subject: stem length at weigh off

can someone tell me what the normal allowed stem lenght of the pumpkin is allowed to be and where it is measured from.I got the rules for a new weigh off over here and the maximum allowed lenght is 3 inches it seems a bit short but i guess it depends how or where it is measured from.

i think what you're talking about is the amount of vine left on each side of the pumpkin stem at most weigh offs 1" of the vine can be left on either side of the stem

randy's got you covered. The stem is part of the pumpkin, I've never heard of anyone regulating how long it can be, only the length of vine to each side of the stem.

Ive seen too many ignorant people cut the pkn stems to 1 inch in length...ruining the pumpkin ! The stem stays...the VINE gets trimmed 1 inch or less on each side of the stem............G
