As I was lamenting my prospects of growing a record breaking pumpkin, I realized I probably wouldn't make it into the Toronto Star. But, a friend told me "hey, at least you'd get in the Canadian Jewish News". And, he was probably right.
That got me thinking that I may not be able to hold the world record as the person to grow the heaviest pumpkin. But, I may take the record as the Jew to grow the biggest pumpkin. Any idea what that record is at these days?
I realize that religion isn't very relevant when it comes to growing giant pumpkins (unless you believe that praying to the "Pumpkin god" gives you an advantage). But, everybody deserves their own record, don't they? Just PLEASE don't tell me that Al Eaton is Jewish! (Then I'd have to bill myself as the Jew, under 30, in Canada, with a pet dog, who is an only child, to grow the biggest pumpkin.)

Crammed, I guess we could all hold a pumpkin record, if we narrowed it down a little(LOL).

My wife is Jewish by birth. That makes my son Jewish by birth. He is 2 years old. His first one was 69 pounds. (69 J. Atencio 04) He won a 5th place future farmer prize at the Auburn CA weigh-off last month with this pumpkin! any Jews out there that can beat that? ;-D

Mr. Sprout, your son is 69 pounds ahead of me in the Jewish pumpkin grower category :-) My current goal is to a grow a pumpkin heavier than I am. But, it looks like your son has achieved that personal milestone already! I have my work cut out for me.
