Has anybody heard of or used this stuff, either as is or with ferts already kicked in? For those that don't know, this is basically the same stuff as the absorbant used in diapers. They are supposed to be effective at controlling the moisture available to the roots of plants. I have heard of this stuff being used as a form of time release method for applying fertilizers...one application covers an entire season. It's also supposed to minimize the effect of salts from the ferts on the plants. I heard about this stuff years ago in college, can't remember much about it, just wondering if anyone can enlighten me, the web doesn't seem to hold much in the way of good information.

I helped treat the roots of 5,000 seedling trees with polimer, that we handed out at work, for earth week. It seemed to work well for that purpose. I have heard of gardeners using it in their gardens, but I haven't tried it. Punch it up in Google, there is 16,500 sites for your entertainment. LOL If you don't mind separating it out of used diapers, it would be a good recycling effort. James

You may get some good fertilizer, to boot, in those diapers. Just kidding, don't try this at home.
