This was a pay site,with no handles ( BTW, Huff is short for Huffer). Then no "switched" nicknames, no hiding behind a curtain. If you crossed the line you forfiet your membership & money. Full disclosure of member to webmaster so once forfieted cannot get back in.
Then & only then mabey this site can get back to pumpkins/squash. Do you guys/gals know how much valuable info we are missing because all this childish banter keeps the Top notch growers from posting ( we all know they read).
In the few years I've been on this site it has gone from a place to find useful information to basically Romper Room .

I agree with Paul in principal. It would be nice to see more accountability & less moronic & childish pot stirring offensive posting. But I don't think this is what stops the "heavy hitters" from posting. There is a message board on AGGC & 90% of the members don't post there either.

i used to have romper stompers as a kid.
all in all, it is what it is.
the good people here i believe outnumber the
those wearing romper stompers that love to step
on toes.

consider the source when getting hit with slung mud.
usually a response is what they are after,
so no response would be the way to go.
but it does suck to read the negativity out there
sometimes.

good natured ribbing is cool,
stomping on toes is not.

I agree with you Paul. I'd love to see more of the constructive posts and less of the nonsense. A good rule of thumb might be, if you can't say anything decent on a posting, than maybe you should not bother posting. Think before you make a fool of yourself and lose the respect of the other growers.

I used to live in the chat and post all the time..
Now I hide under my rock because I don't want the growers I hold in high regard to see my name on 90% of the posts here lately and have them form the opinion of me by association that most folks think of the crap going on around here lately. There doesn't appear to be much respect for something that has taken years to build and serves a purpose...
See ya all next spring when the crocuses bloom and this place gets back to helping people learn how to grow pumpkins and squash.

Paul, I´m now 2 years on this site. All I can say, I have learned a lot in growing big pumpkins. And I dont believe that the stile of postings keeps the Top notch growers from posting, as you guess.
On the other hand, if I would read only basicially information I probably better would buy a book. But it is the community what makes this site and that the people show themselve as they are in their real life. It´s the personally choice to make friends or ignore someone if you mean he/she is´nt worth to talk with.
