HI board I have a problem. My pumpkin set on the main vine about 16 ft out looks like a car tire standing up also has a dill ring near the stem end and was pollinated july 7th its about 60 lbs or so not growing very well.I have two more on the plant the size of softballs or a little larger. How long should i wait untill i cull the the bigger one the whole plant is deadheaded except one vine.Should i wait till the smaller ones are 30 lbs or so then cull the larger one.any input would be helpfull thanks john g.

Well, because no one else has answered yet, this is what I would recommmend. I would wait as long as possible to see which of your 2 smaller pumpkins is doing the best, ie. gaining the most circumference in the shorest period of time. I just lost a basetball sized pumpkin to an abort so keep an eye out on which is doing the best. If the large pumpkin is on a different primary vine then focus on the 2 small ones and let the big one go. Once they are larger than basketball size cull the slowest and good luck. If they are all on the same primary then wait for the small ones to get bigger than a basketball cull the slowest and the big one and have fun.. Hopefully this helps.
