Why is it that you dont hear of any growers growing Giants in flordia? Wouldnt u think this would be the ideal place to grow em? Also I have never heard of any weigh offs in flordia? I know i gotta be wrong here right? Brooks

I'd also go with the jan-july season. Isn't fall hurricane season? i'd be curious to see what a fla. wind break would be constructed of.

i grew a 900lb one in freeport bahamas which is just off the coast from fortlauderdale just above miami. i started in feb. but due to rookie mistakes with powder mildew and bad vine position my season ended after only 49 day's of growth. it would have gone just under 1100. then with a ph of 8 (due to water) i grew a 626lbs. in the fall. but now i'm back in nova scotia.

Answer this question and you'll know why pumpkins grow biggest in climates similar to Southeastern Canada, New England, and the Maritime Northwest. (with apologies to you midwesterners who've also managed to grow some giants.
Where did Howard Dill originally breed the AG for size????
