my guess would be 735 pukos, 898 knauss for consistancy. the 842 eaten went way heavy for the world record, 19% was it?, but most other 842 seeds weren't exceptionally over the charts. Jimmy

IMHO, it is the "shake" of the genetic dice! Even Bruce Whittier did not do as well this year as last....neither did Jerry Rose. There simply is no guarantee that every seed from the "winning" pumpkin will produce a winner. Frankly, I doubt that next year's Biss 763 in my garden produces another 1200 pounder....but, then again...who knows?

I realize there are no for sure things in life, but I see some seeds produce many more over the charts than others or am I incorrect in that statement ????

I grew the 986 Checkon this year. It was a very wet and cool Summer with lots of clouds. My patch was very muddy at times. Anyways, the 986 OTT was 451 Pounds. But it's weight was 610. Which was 35% heavy.

1260 Weir and 709.5 McCallum (a 1260 progeny)...not an offspring yet that went light to the charts. The few grand/great-grandchildren of the 1260 that went light (795 Rhea progeny exception?) had 712 Kuhn in the background

...and I agree with Jimmy...842 a great seed overall but unpredictable/inconsistent. It's offspring are all over the spectrum for size/weight, and heavy/light OTC.

Now Ben's 880 has the makings for heavy OTC consistently....time will tell. 730 Stellpflug and 727 Greer are oldies but heavy OTC producers. 898, 695, 845 Bobier '00 (in general), 1038 Emmons, 767 Catapano, 1337 & 1058 Houghton, 783 Daletas, 805 Pukos, 995 Carter, 895.5 Hester*, 1020 Kuhn, 869.5 Calai, all *consistently* produce heavy OTC.

wk no you are I incorrect in that statement. do to fact you don't take into count weather, soil, grower, experence and location. that you need a good sample to take into count all the seeds from any pumpkin that don't get grown.
