coming from san diego, my weather is warm, probably 90 to 95 on average in the summer months of july and later. I know of a few heat tolerant seeds that are really good, such as the 950 boyton, 600 gregory, etc. Anyone had any experiences with really good heat tolerant seeds that go big and beautiful orange? Chime in anyone:) I have heard the 731 stucker is very heat tolerant and a beauty, I plan on using that seed. If you know of any, please share. Thanks Jimmy

I have been looking at the 1097 for next year. It done fairly well for Carlos in Spain. The 950 is a 845 self and the 845 stuff seems to do well in hotter climates so far. If you have any seeds that are the same cross as the 845 I would think they might do well also. I have a couple of seeds from other growers that are the same cross as the 845 that I have been thinking about trying. I also planted the 1026 Holland and it was a great plant for us that never stopped growing. I pollinated the fruit on the 1026 with the 695 Handy, it should be another great cross for us hot climate growers.

Try the 658 Emmons 98. It's a little older, but did well for Carlos in Spain with little care and a small space. I chose it this year for it's heat tolerance, and it gave me 716 lbs. I crossed it with the 568 Perez (offspring of the 658) to try to keep the genes in it. We didn't have the intense heat we did last year, but the few days when it pushed 95 degrees, it showed no sign of stress and kept plugging along. It has produced quite a few biggies (the largest being 1111 lbs) I think there's still quite a few out there. I'm going to stick in my 716 next year and see how it does.

thanks for the replies guys. well, most of the mentioned seeds seem good, just not real consistant beauty seeds, many are pretty squashy even. The emmons 658 is multiple polinated, so that makes it more unpredictable for color. The 1097, many growers have reported it being very "weak" in the heat, some average in heat, and carlos said he had a cool summer, it's white to squashy too mainly. Why are all the heat tolerant seeds never good looking orange pumpkins hehehe:) Jimmy

I grew the 237 Beachy (846 remake) and it was a very orange and nice shaped pumpkin. It got up to 638 lbs but would have done better if grown in a cooler time than what we had. I pollinated it with the 1026 Holland, (might be another good cross). From what I have seen the 845 stuff is the best heat tolerant genes so far and I have done a lot of looking this year trying to get a better grip for what I need to grow.

the 300 Mongeon is a good heat tolerant strain, it's an 866 Mombertx697 Ciliberto. The 600 Desrosiers is a good one too, it's an 835 Maxymillianxself... I'm going to try to do some crosses with them.
