For those who plan on selling or trading A.G. seed. Seeds should be labeled as Atlantic giant or Dill's Atlantic giant. Correct species name "Cucurbita maxima" should give. The cross, parents cross should list on the packet.
A legal propesective. 1. No it is not illegal sell seeds as of May 31 2004. 2. Plant variety names cannot be trademarked in the USA. So Dill cannot sue you for using the name Atlantic giant or Dill's Atlantic giant. 3. It is illegal to change a plant or seeds varieties name to sell seeds in the USA. 4. The legal landscape in other countries may very. 5. Importing or exporting seeds to other countries improperly may get them destroyed before they reach the recipient

Matt, I have watched your posts here for at least two years...I don't know why you bother to consider it a point to teach ways to avoid what Howard and his son Danny have done to preserve such a great community...Not once Have I seen them not give the rights to auction off " AG" seeds to a deserving group of pumpkin growers..and for that matter if you would have taken half your time to meet the people you would know they love us to grow and trade their variety that was developed by Howard...I had the pleasure of meeting the gentleman and believe me It was my pleasure! I met Danny and Mo and they are both cut from the same fabric...I'm no heavy hitter and they didn't have to give me the time of day.... but they did....Spend time elsewhere maybe you can find someone else's variety of plant to downgrade...I can't see why you continue with following how and when Dill's Atlantic Giant variety patent ends ...maybe just maybe you should try to do something else then follow giant vegetable records....and by the way if we ever end up in the chat room together ignore me as I will you..
Sorry everyone ..I don't often do that and probably stepped well out of character on this board but I'm sorry There was no reason for his post that I can see...and this is not the forum to do so...
Now all of you Go out there and GROW EM BIG!!! Yikes....He's a Poor Dog..
Chuck
Mat you can respond once to my post here would prefer a private response so this post and thread can die quickly..as it doesn't serve the Mission Goals of this site.

I agree...no purpose at all for this post except to piss some people off and make yourself (Matfox) look like more of a jerk than you already do anyway. Didn't someone say you were a nice guy in real life? What life was that?

My Oh My...aren't we all just one happy family? There seems to be an aspect of growing AG's that brings out the "rough edges" of the community.

When i ask people if i could obtain some of their Seeds, and they reply by saying "Sure,No Problem" and they ask for 2,3,4 or 5 Bucks to help out with postage etc i always offer $10.00. WHY....Because these people have worked hard to to obtain their own seed stock and worked their butts off all season to grow the pumpkins from which the Seeds are coming from. Call the extra $5.00 or so, than asked for, as a show of gratification. I guess my comments are not worth Jack Crap to this thread, but there they are.

For the most part I can only think of one reason to buy seeds. That's to help out an organization that is trying to earn money to make this hobby even better. There are so many generous people around who will give you seeds for the price of a stamp, I just can't see ever having to buy any. Just my opinion...

I'm with Chuck and Big Dave. I'm new at this and needed some good seed for next year. The offers poured in, and nobody asked for money. Had people responded to my request asking for $$ for their seeds, I probably would have said "screw it" and wouldn't be growing next year.

What about an entire AG-Pumpkin is it allowed to sell it? Cause if you buy a pumpkin you have the seeds. I would never sell any seed, only give them away. Btw To all who emailed me,i will email you in a few weeks. Greetings Jos

What about companies like P&P, Hollands Land O Giants, and YES even Dill's Atlantic Giant Co. who SELL their seeds for up to $25 a piece!!! Well OK, At least Howard Dill developed the AG so I guess he's exempt(before any of you hero-worshippers who think H. Dill is God start crying)...But frankly ANYONE charging folks for seeds is a TURD in my book. We're all in this to have a good time and meet new friends.... NOT to line some opportunist's pockets with newbie cash.
