So all you experienced growers how many inches can a pumpkin grow in a day? Sounds like how much wood can a woodchuck chuck. Our pumpkin Zach grew 4 inches since yesterday. What kind of weight gain are we looking for? Any ideas on how much water if I'm using a soaker hose how long should it run to obtain max growth if there is no rain.Zach is 53 inches circumfrence today.

Moooooo! As a general guideline your pumpkin should be 40" C in 14 days, 70" in 21 days and 105" in 30 days. If it makes it this should produce a "good" pumpkin(600-800#).When did you pollinate? The cool weather has slowed things down where I'm at, my best was 39" in 14 days. As long as it's growing and is not starting to age too quickly, your 4" a day is good growth,it may get better, but it will inevitably slow down. Your plants should have at least 1" rain per week,I'm pushing more. I have overhead sprinklers and a rain guage to keep track of this, but 1" is quite a lot of water!
