I would like to know who has planted that seed and what result you had with it? I had a cream pink coulour 458.5 lbs, without any split. I think it could be a great seed for a great grower (best grower than me (:-)!

I grew em. A very strong growing plant but all fruitset til august 26. did´nt work or rotted away. A late fruitset on a secondary had a bad split so the pumpkin were 4 weeks the home for mices. LOL

Great genetics on the 977.
I was curious about this one Sophie & that I why I had asked you about how it did for you. I was hoping to see better color but all that genetic variation there still could be some nice orange ones out there.
Seeing how other ___ X 898 crosses did this year I'm sure we will see many others planting these various seeds next year.
Good thread

528# in my front yard with zero care...except to position it properly on the vine, and sprayed pesticide/fungicide twice over the Summer. I grew it simply to pollinate it with the 1260 Weir or 580 Weir...the 580 won that lottery. The yard pH was 5.1 and the soil was as deficient in everything as it could get. I terminated the main at 36', the back main secondaries at 22', it was huge to say the least. It was also 7% heavy OTC which I find remarkable considering the crappy soil it grew in. I honestly believe that that was one of a few of the "special" seed from that pumpkin that could have easily grown 1000+ in a well-maintained patch with topnotch soil. I feel like I wasted it in my yard, except that I got a great cross, and I know the seed will do very well in good soil because the genetics were so good as demonstrated by how it grew, and in what conditions it grew in. 977 Hester is a winner in my book!

PS...mine was pink until I put olive oil on it, and then it turned flaming red.
