This upcomming spring I'll be digging (aproxamly) a 12X12 hole for each plant. In each hole I'll be adding 1ft. of houres manure, 1ft of cow manure, and about 6in of topsoil. Now here's my question Should I get a soil analisis of the manures? And besides aditives i would add to the manures bassed on the soil analisis, is there any thing i need to add to the manure no matter what?
Please post here because I can only answer emails Wed-Fri. I can, however read the posts any day of the week from this computer.
Thanks

one thing for sure, get the manure now and compost it all winter!! I would not go over 30%(1-3 ratio) composted manure with the soil.

Thanks. The cow manure I have has been rotting down for years and the houres manure will rot over winter.

most growers will add gypsom inthe soil with manure, it helps calcium levels but it loosens up soil, plus helps take out salts of the soil over winter. Definitely get a soil test for your soil, wouldn't worry about for the manure if it's straight farms manure. You might need to add some lime too after the manure and organic matter is added, decaying matter acidifies the soil some, it just depends on where your ph is before you add stuff. Get a soil test, it will help for sure. Jimmy
