Fred Calai is alive but didn't grow this year. He had some serious health issues not too long ago but he made it to Niagara this year.
I don't know about Leonard Knauss.

Leonard Knauss was in good health at the Niagra Seminar last march. I believe he also appeared at one or more of the Pennsylvania weighoffs this fall. Any help here Rocky?

Both of these Kind Gentlemen are among the Top of my list as far as growers go. We met both at Niagara. April and I sat and talked to Fred and Mary for a short time, even shared a honeywiess with them.

I enjoy the oldtimers. and their wealth of information they have learnned through experience.. people have been doing this long before B.P. a OLD LADY SPOKE WITH ME AT WIEGHOFFF. The MANGLED BEET VARIETY i brought for competition was the variety she used as child for cattle food???? lets make sure we treat the oldtimers with the respect they deserve! DBH
