For all those who missed it this weekend, I put some pics on my photo gallery. I'm sure Christy (basebell), Nick H (NJH), and Welty will put some up also.

That 9.9 Johnson looked like overkill indeed. LOL Is that how she swamped?
Perhaps with proper ballast you could pull a skier in Long Gourds?

It wasn't cold at all, you guys are a bunch of pansies. No, that motor wasn't overkill at all, haha The water was nice and warm too
The end problem is that the proper balast requires more weight than an 884 pound fruit can support including 80 pound motor and the driver. Extension of weight beyond the fruit to gain equal leverage at a reduced total mass also apears problamatic due to great leverage advantage causing increased sway and ultimate demise upon the ensuing rockback. Only needed a little more time till it got up on plane, then all would have been good, until I had to stop.
Definitly a great time on (and in) the water, more people should join next year, we had more boats than racers.

Do you made a movie for the internet from that? Certainly there are a lot of interrested people here. The motor must be good as to see by the black-red-gold on his back. ;-)

Nic- stopping is overated anyway..., besides you could have just driven her right up onto the beach while still planed.

Nic, I got some info about Nova Scotia's Regatta, course is just short of a mile, Leo Swinnamer Sr. (at 69 years old)covered the distance in 10.17 minutes. Our fastest in the motorozed category I believe was just under 6 minutes.
As for next year, I think you need to start looking at using multiple pumpkins. Nova Scotians have had a lot of luck using 3 pumpkins, two at the back for the motor, and one at the front for the driver.
