I posted a couple pictures in my gallery of myself and my "Q10-Gourd" (I was sponsored by the local rock station, Q-104) at the Windsor Pumpkin Regatta yesterday. 37 entries, 5 in the motorized category, 32 in the paddling category. A great time was had by all, especially Leo Swinnamer Sr. He must be in his 70's, and he beat the record he set last year by finishing in just over 10 minutes. For comparison, a custom made tri-maran (3 pumpkins under a metal frame) with a 6 horse outboard on the back completed the race in 6 minutes. I was lucky to get a Dill pumpkin at the last second, it was a good thing you didn't call me back at all over the last couple of weeks Jeff, that pumpkin you were going to give me looked an awful lot like "The Dill Pickle Express", which went down before firemen let go of it. If anybody has a chance to take part in an event like this, do it. Everyone had a blast, and it is definitely one of those things that can get you addicted in a hurry. I was watching Leo set up, and I already have ideas for how to keep up with him next year. If anyone has any seeds that tend to throw canoe shaped 500 pounders, shoot me an email, I'd be interested in getting my hands on some for next year!

Does any one have some video footage of a regatta in action. I would like to start something like this in Wisconsin. When I explain what it is. They look at me like I have been exposed to the wrong chemical for to long. Although wear a chunk of cheddar cheese on your head at a football game is like rocket science to them. Or cut a whole in the middle of a frozen lake to take a mid winter plunge is not crazy. Its called a Polar Plunge. Although bring up the idea of a pumpkin boat race..The men in the white jackets are standing by.

I have lots more pictures and some videos too. I'll see if I can find a way to post some of the videos on the internet, they're a little big to try to email.
