Has anyone who's ever cut an umbilical cord notice that it has the same feel and texture of a main pumpkin vine? Seems fitting. :-)

No, really it does. I was dissecting my 1230 daletas main vine to analyze how a split early in the season had healed, and as I was cutting through it, it had the same rubbery leather feel as when I cut the cord when my son was born. c'mon, somebody help me out here :-)

I deliveried my son at home (not planned)... but I didn't cut the cord ... the paramedics had showed up by then... I did cut the cord when my daughter was born... but it has been 12 years and I don't remember what it was like...
to be honest Matt I don't think you are going to get a lot of back up on this one! lol !

I had to think about this one for a bit. I cut cords for both my two kids. Apart from the blood splatter, it does kinda feel the same.

ASG vines crunch a little when cut. My son was delivered by emergency C-section, so this opportunity never presented itself. Do umbilical cords crunch a little too? I prefer a Felco #2. Is this the tool of choice in the delivery room?

I know what you mean, Matt. I wouldn't have thought of it if you hadn't mentioned it, but I have to agree; very similar. The crunching of the vine kind of feels the same as the rubberyness of the u-cord.

I'm gonna see if I can get my wife to cut a vine, then I'm gonna tell her its just like cutting the u-cord. I wonder what she'll do. (hehehehehe) :-D

They use scissors in a delivery room, Tremor. They are the angled kind with the blunt tips.
