Congratulations Jake, if I am correct you've just broken your own provincial record!! I saw the piece on the BCTV morning news and I just knew you were pulling the wool over our eyes with the 450 kilo(990lb) estimation. 1142 what a pumpkin. Congrats again. Chad

Shannon's had just a "skosh" too much green according to GPC rules. Otherwise, he would have won by three pounds.

So, is shannon's squash a "true" green? or is he going to get jilted on the green prize, too? (the jacket)

"True green"....It was not a "vivid" deep green, if that is what you are asking.

This year has been a major disappointment. Last year, I had three at 1000 lb. I tried growing in a new area and had nothing but problems. Even Jim Kuhn had a "bad" year, so I can take solace that one can't be at their peak every year. I had alot of company this year as a lot of "big ones" split before their time! Just ask our good friend, Dan Carlson.

Nice going Jake... a new BC record. It's only a matter of time before the world record lies north of the border...

I don't think they will let a "World Record Pumpkin" over the border....besides, it would probably sink the ferry! ;>)
