1301-03 is the 842-02 x 1236-02. Al is the master of the cross back. He has once again juiced up his seeds. Don't forget for most of his crosses he also has a reverse cross.
1301 reverse = 741-03 which has enormous potential too. The 1301 was very popular at Port Elgin with a couple of them over 1000 I believe. A very good plant in this years cool weather. Some of us had problems with the 1301 but those that managed to keep it growing were rewarded.

Russ...without taking a thing away from Al, as I consider him a friend of mine, most of us growers do crossbacks and reverse crosses. It's been being done for awhile now, by a large number of folks....no new rocket science here.

It's all more of the same 846 x 723 x 846 crosses that have been the mainstay of superior genetics, and huge pumpkins, for a long time now.

1301 being from Bruce Whittier......2003 Topsfield winner. Correct ?

The 1301.5 was from Al Eaton, the 1301.4 was Bruce Whittier.

So if I have this correct, it looks like this:

1446 Eaton '04 (846 Eaton '02 x 1236 Eaton '02)
842 Eaton '02 (846 Calai '99 x 732 Bobier '99UOW)
1301.5 Eaton '03 (842 Eaton '02 x 1236 Eaton '02 DSQ)
1236 Eaton '02 DSQ (723 Bobier '99UOW x 723 Bobier '99UOW)

Al himself has now grown the 842 over 1300 twice. There were also 3 other fruit grown over 1000 prior to the 2nd. It will be interesting to see how many other growers posted what weights on it.

The 842 will do well at auction this year.

The 1009.5 Sundin was grown on the 1301.5 Eaton.

The 989 Sundin was grown on my 697.3 Boyton (600.5 Gregory x 845 Bobier!!!) Happy about that result!

Kyle, yes you are right.
Not rocket sience at all. It turns out to be humble pie.
After talking with Alan I realized just how much about this hobby I have yet to learn. Two years does not a pumpkin grower make. Some day in the future I hope.

Leaving no stone unturned.

Steve, the 1236 is the (723 x 846), I believe.
Hey Russ, you did a good job, better than I've ever grown...experience and knowledge go hand-in-hand, just wish it'd work that way for my weights bro'!
