I like my rear tined, but I wish I ahd bought one with reversible tine rotation. The one I bought has counter-rotating tines only. It's great for the first turn, but tends to pile soil at the ends of the rows, especially once the soil is loosened. I think forward rotating tines would work better in loose soil. Front tine tillers are good for smaller gardens with loose soil, but can be a bear to use on large plots, especially if the soil is compacted.

BCS or Troybuilt...If you intend on using it for pumpkins only you may be better off renting one. One less piece of equipment to maintain. I have a 14 horse Diesel Ferrari that is an Italian walking tractor that will put anyother tiller to shame...Just don't let it get away on you..

Front tine comes in handy in small spaces or when under budget constraints.

Rear tine is the best. BCS is a great machine.
