Guess it is a New Record for the State of Oklahoma beating our 539 lber from last year. Guess growing Giant Pumpkins will never catch on here in Oklahoma. Cross is 237 Beachy X 1026 Holland. E-E=85", S-S=89" and Circum was 137" for a OTT of 311".Will post a couple photos under the photo gallery.

Nice job! It seems the milder summer you've enjoyed in your part of the country, (compared to what you are used to,) has been good for you. Another year of experience helps too. I don't know why you think this hobby won't catch on where you are. Drive around with it in the back of your truck for a couple weeks. I'll bet you get more than a couple requests for seeds. It has to start somewhere, why not with you?

Congratulations Thomas is right! A new state record should cause some waves especially in hot Oklahoma. Perhaps someone should contact the papers. These are the sort of special interest stories that news people are looking for this time of year. Not to toot your own horn, but rather to increase interest in the hobby.
It's really up to us to spread the word if we want something to grow.
I did a quick search & found a dead video link:

I find this interesting what with all the hoopla here in CT with our record going down this summer (Reynolds 851.8). The papers are all over the story.
Make some noise Thomas!

Hey, I know Glenn (North Shore Boyz) got some publicity at the beginning of the season when he announced the weigh off for this year, and also gave away a bunch of seedlings from his plant from last year at a local gardening centre. This year for the weigh off, there's all kinds of people that grew his seeds. Sounds like a good way to promote the sport?
