For the love of sweet Jesus, what on God's green Earth would make a person ask this, most mind boggling of questions. I can handle all the miracle grow comments, and even the milk injection fairy tale, but when people throw the "Rotator" at me, blood starts to boil.
Someone please explain to me the logic behind this question...what about a large pumpkin makes one wonder if it was rotated??? Pumpkins are ROUND, nature doesnt typically grow squares, trapezoids, rhombusi, or triangles. Maybe im the dumb one for not understanding the non-grower's mindset.
Secondly, to my knowledge, mother nature hasnt invented biological swivels yet. Just how is it biologically possible to "rotate" a pumpkin on a vine???
Blood pressure check: 160/90
"Yeah folks, i hoist all 900lbs into the air and give her a spin just like the big wheel on Price is Right, land on the dollar and it grows 25lbs just like that" Sheesh!
Can ya tell im a little worked up here? I set up a trailer at the end of the drive with some smaller giants for sale, and by far this is the most common question i get. Some one help me please.

JozeI've heard this asked before too. I think people have seen pictures of some large flat ones, and maybe if yours are well shaped, they think turning them may have prevented flattening. A lady I know grew a flattish one last year, and was thinking or turning it as it grew this year, to get a better shaped one.

Field pumpkins are often snipped, rolled, then harvested two weeks later. This lets the bottom get some color and helps prevent rot...

It must be your location Joe... the main stupid questions here where I live are...
"where did you get the mold casting at to make something like that"
"what did you make that out of"
"where can I buy something like that at?"
Your annoying question back should be "Did I rotate it? No.. So why dont you stick it up your a** and rotate it for me ?"

It's just like on the cartoons when the characters spin their heads in circles. Pumpkins work the same you, didn't you all know that?
Another stupid thing... people think that the pumpkins take several years to grow. YEAH, they just keep on growing bigger when it's not above 0 degrees for a week straight in January.

Ignorance of youth hath nailed me again. I shall stand corrected that there is indeed a valid reason for rotating pumpkins, as it applies to the field variety. However, the average person probably wouldnt be aware of this practice, so my initial questions regarding why the question is asked still remain.

The questions I can not stand are...How many seeds did it take to grow your pumpkin.?? OR how many plants did you grow that pumpkin on....?? OR how many years have you been growing that pumpkin to get it that big.??.. I am sure we will all be dealing with these hideous questions again, as that time of year is here again.....LOL...... JK....Good luck to all at the scales..:-)..And with answering all of those funny questions.

it's great to stand back from the line-up of Pumpkins and listen to the general public say "OH MY GOD" that's not real. Then they dig finger nails into the skin and then say "OOOPS IT IS REAL YOU KNOW" Just watching people look at them in awe is GREAT.
