I took my 615 lb. pumpkin to the nursing home I work at, to show to the residents. I was pleasantly surprised at the positive reactions to it, and the smiles it brougth out. I left it in the pick up(on a pallet)and opened the tailgait. The activity dept. took numerous pictures of residents by the pumpkin. I got many questions(only one asked if I fed it milk:-) on how I grew it. It was truley enjoyable! If any of you decide on doing this, I'd contact the Activity Dept. ahead of time, so they can plan a good time for it. Another suggestion would be a pre-school, or some place where children can view it. Someone with a camera to take pictures as well, may be a good idea. It's great to see your hard work appreciated.

That's a great idea! It's amazing the smiles a big pumpkin can bring. I like to keep my pumpkin uncovered for the trip to the weigh-off so everyone can see it.A stop at a coffee shop on the way always forms a crowd.

I took one last your to the Harding's Nursing Home in Waterville, New York The residents there had a blast. I had the pumpkin weigh and the residents each got a chance to guess the weight. They couldn't believe it when they all found out that none of them where even close to the real weight. But all in all, they had a great time. It was well worth the trip to see the laughs on the old peoples faces.

On the way back from the weigh off We stopped at the Culture Fair, put on by the local schools, The newspapersaid, There were as many kids climbing on the pumpkins as there were on the playground equipment! Took numerous pics, all of wide eyed children, More enjoyment than you could imagine, Had a great time!
