You may get away with it, but is it right? I think Howard is responsible for a lot of the fun and pride that we growers enjoy. I think those that acquire as many seeds as they can for profit, should be "lynched"! Why would anyone buy seeds, when most of the growers are honest, and would supply you with seeds for free? Don't think the "Benz" crowd has the work ethic, and time and devotion to grow a giant pumpkin anyway! If you can spend $325 for one pumpkin seed, then you're making too much money!Even though I've never met Howard Dill and most of you other growers, I consider you all,(except for maybe 1 or 2) an old friend. We are an elite bunch! Honesty is what most of us share in common!
Just my 2,

I know who 1 of the 1 or 2 is. I know that David Garrel sells his on e-bay, my aunt got some from him through e-bay for me before we knew about the pvp thing.

How can seed companies sell AG seed then? Could they be sold if size of the AG is small or open pollinated?

You pay Howard Dill to Sell the seeds, kind of like a royalty. Just like greenhouses buy a parent plant, of a certain popular variety and doing this they buy the right propogate.

Well said kilr. Just because you can get away with something does not make it right. Jeff, you did the right thing by asking permission to sell seeds for a charitable cause. You could've just done it and no one would've known but that would not be the right thing to do. It says alot about your integrity and character as a man. I imagine it is frustrating for Mr. Dill when the seeds that he has legally protected are sold without his permission.

hey you

I had the idea of giving some AG seeds to my brother's school for their auction, but I couldn't find out how to conact him to ask if it was ok so I just didn't give them the seeds because, like Brent said, "just because you can get away with it doesn't mean it's right"
Tom

P.S. I never told them I was donating the seeds, I was planning on asking Howard first because I didn't want to say they could have them and then not give it to them. That would be kind of mean.

Thanks svrichb,,,it upset me a little that Howard said no,,but pi**ed me off the way he screamed at my wife..As far as the seed collection up for auction,,I better not comment,,would hate to make fellow growers mad at my opinion....
