LOL Dan Carlson and Marc Peterson drove all the way to Austin to beat our Mn. butts off, a real nice and 1st. place 930, I asked his permission to post and will add a pic of his winner with the rest in my diary. My other fruit was 461, and Laura's(fiance) weighed in at 237! Not Bad for a first time grower fellers! There were 26 pumpkins entered in all.

Congrats Phil. Glad to hear you got a new PB this year, considering the weather. Also congrats to Dan & Marc on their 1st place finish and to all who entered the weighoff.

That 461 of yours Phil, was a real beauty, with great shape and color!
I was surprised my pumpkin went over 600 lbs. It was 615, and beat my goal by 215 lbs. I measured it at 302.75" OTT, so it went heavy(the father was a 1260 Weir), and placed 14th. We left the pumpkin uncovered on the way home, and we got a lot of looks and waves from people admiring it. We stopped somewhere to eat, and a fellow asked if it was real, and if he could touch it, saying it was the largest pumpkin he ever saw.
It was real nice to meet Phil, Laura, James, and everyone else(forgive me if I left any names off, as I don't know which other growers visit this site). It was a beautiful warm/hot day for a weighoff. I hope to go back again next year.

Doug
