I went to a pumpkin contest, and was the only one there with a pumpkin.. OOOps. All I had was a pickling fruit. I was actually embarrased about taking it. But, it was the only one to survive this year. My patch was hit hard with PM in July. Not to mention my dogs chasing a squirrel through the patch. Not to mention a stray cloud of 'roundup' from a well meaning neighbor. It was a year of hard learned lessons. So, next year....fungicides, fences, flog the neighbor. Now, time to dry the seeds, make about 15 gallons of wine from the flesh, and plot and plan for next year! grow em big!!!

Grandpa....to embarrased to tell the weight, it was small. I could barely lift it by myself. So, it was under 200 lbs.
Shiznit, I doubt I scared off the competition. I just live in a strange area hidden in the mountains. You ever see the movie 'deliverance'?? If you have, You have the idea. After all, Eric Rudolph (the alledged Atlanta Olympic's bomber) hid here for 5 years from the FBI's intensive search. So, not many people into AG's. Now, ya want to talk mater's, they be there!
Orange, The contest was right here in beautiful downtown Murphy, during the Saturday organic farmers market. sorry, no hummers given away, but did get some promising looks from a young lady.
I have gotten a couple emails about the pumpkin wine. I will make a separate post with recipe.
