I heard on the news that they might consider running the mail through radition, or some junk... if it killed anthrax..(i probally didn't spell it right but oh well) I was just wondering if it would be safe to send seeds through the mail if they started these procedures. I don't know anything about radiation and how it relates to plant cells (or our precious seeds), but i thought that it might be nice to bring it up and see what y'all had to say on it. I don't even know if they were serious about the radiation stuff or anything but i did hear it mentioned so....
Thanks Justin
P.S. Sorry maybe i am crazy !!!!!!

I actually have the same concern. I don't know if there is anything we can do about it. The postal mail has definitely been slowed down from all this too.

The seed catalog companies will go out of business.
Where can we buy lead-lined bubble envelopes?
Maybe Ken and John can use their vacations to drive around the country hand delivering seeds to all of us.

I heard in the news today only a limited amount of mail headed to DC is being irradiated. They also said it would take years to set up a system to irradiate all the mail in the US.

Yo Guys, I know that a lot of fruit and veggies that are imported and exported from europe are irradiated. If potatoes are irradiated then they cannot be used for growing as they will not sprout. Tomatoes and the like will stay in good condition for months without rotting after being irradiated.

Hey guys stop worrying! They're only considering it as a possible way to help combat the spread of Anthrax through the mail. Considering how many post offices there are, the enormous cost of the machines, and the financial situation of the post office, I don't think we have anything to worry about. Even in DC, they are currently NOT irradiating mail. I wish they would, then perhaps people would stop getting sick!

There would have to be a few requirements though... steak dinner at each stop for starters..
I can see it now... an orange Hummer with the logo all over it barrelling down the highway. BigPumpkins.com Seed Express.
