I was out in the garden today cutting up one of my rotting splits - very stinky. Anyways, I got to wondering what is the green line all around the inside of the fruit. If you don't know what I'm talking about it is typically in the flesh of (some) fruit about an inch from the outer skin. A good picture is on p.115 of HTGWCGP III - on the Larsen 1156.
Could this be like the cambium layer in a tree where annual rings are added? Also could this layer contribute to some orange fruit turning green later in the season? If the fruit continues to grow & expand maybe this green layer of fruit is finally reached.
What do ya'll think?

I don't know if this is what you're talking about, but check out my carved 604.5 last year in my diary. it was a nice orange pumpkin, but me and Tom were sure surprised when it had green blotches all over on the inside when we started sculpting it.

Yes Brigitte - that is it the green that showed through depending on how deep you made your cuts.
Not all fruit have this, but many do.
