Would like to know what the offspring of selfed 869.5's look like if anyone is growing one. I have seeds from mine but most of them will not sprout. I hope to get at least one plant from the 50 or so seeds I still have left from my 497 last year. Best regards! Michel

I have one growing right now (an 869.5 that I have selfed)! It is a very late fruit, but I will have seeds from it this fall. I'd be glad to trade you seeds for your 801.5 selfed. Send me an e-mail!

Ned grew the 869.5 in 2003 and selfed it. It ended up at 689.5 and was a really nice big round fruit. Look at http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=15081
He was kind enough to send me some seeds from his fruit and they grew nice large round orange fruit too. Look at http://www.bigpumpkins.com/Diary/DiaryViewOne.asp?eid=27216

Russ,
I believe you mixed something up a bit...
Michel doesn't have that 801.5 X self but if you are interested in those seeds email me....
Also, I believe Michel only wanted to see what color 869.5 Calai offsprings (like his 497 or Ned's 689.5) will produce, looks like they will also go orange...

That's right Martin, I just want to have an idea of what to maybe expect from my 497 White which was the 869.5 by definite self. I love the skin on the 869.5 Offspring and want to know if it's worth it to plant my 497 to use as a pollinator in the future. I also have the 808 Beachy seed which is the same cross as the 869.5 but there's no guarantee it will produce orange pumpkins yet. Talk to yall later! Michel

Vineman, I thought I would have great seeds from my 869.5 x Self last year and the pumpkin was full of seeds that just won't sprout well if at all. I did manage to sprout a few of them just so you know but I didn't grow the plant this year and I should have at least put one in the test patch. Michel

One of my 689.5 was grown out in a friends patch this year and in limited space and with little care it produced a nice 500 pound very round and orange pumpkin. The 689.5 was from the Calai 869.5 which I selfed.
