Has anybody tried to grow a large pumpkin on just one long continuous vine? I was considering maybe next year cutting off all of the side runners except for maybe a couple of them. Has anybody tried this and got good results? I would think it would be alot easier to maintain if a you done this..Thanks for any info

I have heard of this, called freight training. I have not tried it myself. I think we will hear a lot more in the future as a possible pruning style.

windasm, got two "freight Trains" runnin' in the patch right now. it is experimental for me being a second year grower. taking all secondaries from one plant, the other has one secondaryrunning parallel w/the main. i'll post at end of season the outcome of my experiment. duff
