I've researched all the old post on splits and stem splits. I have 2 on a pumpkin that is 48 days old. The splits are only an 1/8 of an inch wide and approximately 2" deep. The pumpkin is still growing about 12 lbs a day, therefore the splits (2 days old) are still slowly growing.
Is my best recourse to scrape out any soft/rotten material, hit with a bleach application and then fill the voids with captan, and put a fan on the splits 24/7????? Please help me out, I want to do this right. This pumpkins measured out at 307 OTT this am and is still growing strong.

Yes, I'd do as you said. The fan, in my opinion, can be stopped once the area is dry. Do whatever you can to keep the stem dry when it rains, too. Split in stem only, or into the flesh of the fruit?

Spit is at the base of the stem and has entered into the fruit. The fruit splits are only about 1.5" long at this time, but are 2-2.5" deep, but not into the cavity.

Should I put some silicone cauk over these 2 splits after they have dried out??? I just walked in from my patch, The splits are now an 1/8 to 3/16" wide and 3-3.5" deep, but have not reached the cavity yet. I scraped them clean and filled the cracks with captan powder through a large scringe. The fan is now blowing on the cracks.
ANY MORE ADVICE WILL BE GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!! SHOULD I CLOSE THESE SPLITS WITH SILICONE??

THANK YOU,
KEVIN
