Subject: Main vine split

While doing some pruning today, I noticed a split in the main vine about 1/2 between the stump and the fruit. Could this have been the reason growth has slowed so much in the last couple weeks? I've posted a picture in my diary so you can take a look at what I'm talking about. What do you think? The picture was just posted, so it might take a little while for it to come on line. Thanks for your opinions.

they happen once in a while, but i don't think they really ever effect the growth that much, since they split with the grain, but i'm not positive. it's never really been anything that i could blame a small pumpkin on.
