An Arctic front is Scheduled to hit Edmonton on Tuesday, and Calgary on Wednesday, And Continuing south to Montana. Our high temp for Wednesday is Minus 1 And the low Wednesday night is Minus 9 This really sucks when the weigh off is 3 weeks after the first killing frost. So much for the 250 lb weight gain I need on my outside plants. The end to a wonderful, great season, (NOT) So cover up with with your best down filled Quilts and get out the space heaters. Eddy

Geeez I hope they are wrong. It's still a few days away and the forecast will probably change 5-6 times (probably for the worse)but I'm already depressed. Thanks Eddy for the heads up. Alan

Yup. Just checked the weather network and it looks like its game over. On the bright side, it will give us some extra time to prepare our patches for next year, that is if the soil isn't froze solid a month early.

Hey fellas, get some plastic pipes and a lot of 4 or 6 mil plastic sheeting. With a bit care you can cover most of the vine, put a heater underneath and maybe, just maybe, you'll save enough of the plant for another few weeks.

Ok, I've had all day to stew over this. My bet is that it won't hit that bad, if at all. The 5 day forecast is never terribly accurate, especially here in wacky Alberta.

Ok, now that I've written my last post, watch out, I'll be the only one to get frost and probably a foot of snow next week. At least we'll get rid of the bugs on my windshield.

I had the plastic pipes and a tarp over my one remaining promising plant for the last 2 weeks. I had so much frost lately that the plant would not have survived without it. I am slowly going broke. Ha! Ha! They are already changing the forecast a little. I hope for the better. Don

Hey guys, the forecast has changed. It may not be great growing weather coming up, but at least it's not a hard frost.

Yup, one of my kittens woke me up early this morning or it would have been game over for my two remaining pumpkin plants I fear. I got right out with the water hose and sprayed everything...including myself. I have to go out and cover everything tonight...something I neglected to do last night as I thought it was too warm..Hah...thats a laugh warm..yeah right...whats warm? certainly nothing we had much of this summer! Whats with this crazy weather anyhow?
