ok I know a few of you have built lifting tripods. How did you connect them together at the top???

I think Al Eaton lashes them together with chain. I'd prefer drilling holes and bolting them together with all thread rod.

I used some borrowed pipe staging last year...worked great!

Just used mine again tonight and worked well for the third season. Used the same method used by Marv Hicks. Cut a bevel on two of three 4x4's then drill a 1/2" hole straight through all three where they will connect. Then run a piece of 1/2" rebar through and it holds great. The chain is used on each end of the rebar to help hold it together but also to hold the scale up.

I did the all thread thing, looks like it will work. How do you get them up over the pumpkin without bashing the pumpkin????
