It depends on the magnesium levels of the soil. Are you sure your soil starts the season on the low side? If so, are you seeing Mg deficiency symptoms now? If so, was an inseason soil test done?

This business of willy-nilly micronutrient applications just because "so-&-so does it & grew a thousand pounder" is not a good idea.

Due to all the dolomitic limestone that gets used here in New England, I've seen some amazingly high Mg levels in some reports. This is known to throw other nutrients out of balance including here at my own patch.

We need verify the need for Mg before we determine the rate. A soil trest report is needed to make the determination & to calculate the rate.

Manganese deficiency symptoms can look like Magnesium too. I've had some very tenured growers recommend Epsom Salts for both which is completely wrong.

Steve,

I've been using a soluble Potassium Magnesium Sulfate to boost magnesium. Do you have any info on this?

Sul-Po-Mag aka Sulfate of Potash Magnesia

Good low salt correction where we need the following nutrients:

22% Potash
10.8% Magnesium
22% Sulfur

2.5% Chlorine max
