Half Moon Bay, CA calls itself the pumpkin capital of the world. They have a week long pumpkin fest there.

I grew up in the Cactus Capital of Canada, Dundas Ont., but that's beside the point.
I'm not sure about the Claims to Fame from other towns, but I'd have to nominate Windsor NS,(Home of Howard Dill) as a definite priority on the list of "pumpkin" places to visit. If it weren't for the birthplace of Hockey, Long Pond, being on his farm too I think Windsor might put a little more effort into promoting itself as some kind of "Pumpkin Capital".

Windsor, NS (Look up two posts!)
Windsor doesn't actually promote Howard Dill as much as you might expect, the signs leading into Windsor say "Home to Sam Slick" but don't mention Howard.

Pumpkin water tower, that's got to take the cake.
I did notice last night while I was reading The Pumkin King (my wife found me two copies, bought me both), Windsor, Nova Scotia is referred to as "The Pumpkin Capital of the World", but like I've said before, if Windsor is claiming it they sure don't promote it much.
