In the shade - PDX, OR

It's not been a good week in my patch.

Lost 3 fruit in three days & rain has continued to fall off & on since Saturday eve. Storming now as I type....

The victims:
1 stem split into the cavity, 315"OTT =642lbs (Sunday)
1 blossom end split, same measurement -found this a.m.
1 down to rot 275" OTT =430 Lbs -this afternoon

Only one left with fingers crosed.

Who else has lost 'em recently?

P.S. Good Luck to all for the rest of the way.

Bummer Eric. Sorry to hear that. I lost two smaller pumpkins I had going for carvers. Lost....more like exploded! I guess the cool weather is the only thing keeping the other larger pumpkins from splitting with all the extra moisture.

I hope the last one holds together for you. Lets just all cross our fingers and hope for the best!!

Eric, sorry to hear about your bad luck. Hope that all goes well with the one that is left.

I have found a stem split on one of mine. It does not go all the way into the cavity, but then how long that will hold up is probably only a matter of time.

Eric, what a bummer! I, too lost two pumpkins this past weekend, damn rain! Both were taping out around 700 lbs.

When it rains it pours. I just found another stem split. Again not into the cavity, but for how long. That is my last one. 2 fruits, 2 stem splits, and about 8 weeks till a weighoff, lmao, right!

Is there any corrolation between cold weather and fruit growth that may cause this?

I'm jealous of Eric. Splits indicate growth. I'd take a split at this point in exchange for these white & orange paper weights.

I'm sorry for your loss Eric. Best wishes for keeping the good one on!
