With our night temps between 37 and 41 degrees consistently, I'm trying to figure out a way to keep my pumpkin from thinking it is October. Has anyone ever tried covering the stump and the vine between the stump and pumpkin at night? Maybe running a heater for just that section of the plant?

Beet -With those kind of temps I'd recommend a green house over the entire plant.

I was wondering the same thing...I have a few roots exposed..but think I will go out now and pile the same soil over them as is in in the main patch

blanket the main at night in the same manner you blanket your fruit you could also lay black weed block in between the rows and leave it there for the remainder of the seasom ,thus keeping the soil about 10 or so degrees warmer than it would have been
