Heres another good question
Say you live in the city and your entire yard is fenced in and you ONLY have about a 3 ft walking space on eaither side of the house and you have grown a 500 + lb pumpkin how do you get that one out of the yard?

You can get lifting tarps right ftom the man himself at:

Be careful & always have 2 more people handy than you think you'll need. One pair of hands per 80 lbs is good. But take the terrain into consideration. Make sure to have a plan & everyone must understand there is one person calling the shots & everyone else keeps quiet.

Offer them chili and beer, but only after they have moved it. That has always worked for me. People enjoy it so much they ask when the next "pumpkin moving party" is.

Some backyard gardeners higher a crane/boom truck to lift the fruit over the fence/roof if necessary. Being a backyard gardener, I use the tarp method with a lot of friends. Additionally, I have found it necessary to remove a couple of fence sections to get good maneuvering room. Figuring out how to get the thing out of the backyard is half the fun.

I forget who gave me this idea on here but I like the idea of going to a carpet store and getting the old carpet they have ready to thow away. Dig one out of their dumpster and cut about handles on the sides. Brooks

I wanted to move my 500 pounder to the front yard, 150' away.
I rolled out a lenght of 3'x 50' 4mil black plastic from the pumpkin to where we were going. A blanket was placed on the plastic and the "P" rolled onto the blanket. My friend and I then pulled the blanket with the fruit. It slide very nicely on the plastic. I did recruit my wife to stand on the plastic as we slide the pumpkin. Leap frog the plastic thru the flower bed and driveway to its Halloween position.
Add to the for what its worth folder.

I know a bunch of use are using tarps that we bought from Alan Reynolds. I believe they are rated at something ridiculous like 1000 lbs per square inch. They are made from the same material the military uses to cover there tanks with. Im not sure if he 's still selling them though.
